About

System Intervia is a software development agency in Rome, founded in 2019. We build for organisations that run on their software — freight, healthcare, finance, public archives — the kind of system nobody chose and everybody has to use.

The name is Latin: inter via, between roads. Most of our work is a passage from the system a client has to the one they need, without stopping the business to get there.

We are six senior people rather than thirty with a bench. It means we take on three projects at a time and you always talk to whoever is building yours.

What we believe

STATED PLAINLY

We will tell you the brief is wrong

Discovery usually changes the shape of a project. If we think you are about to build the wrong thing, you will hear it before you have paid for it — even when saying so loses us the larger contract.

The busiest screen comes first

Empty dashboards demo well and ship badly. We design the Tuesday-morning view — the full queue, six exceptions, someone on the phone — and let the empty state fall out of that.

Handover is a deliverable

If your team cannot maintain the system after we leave, we did not finish. Documentation, dashboards and training are in the scope from the start, not a favour at the end.

Fixed price where it is honest

We quote fixed price when the scope genuinely supports it and time-and-materials when it does not. A fixed price on unknown scope is a fiction that one of us pays for later.

How we work

FIVE STAGES
  1. 1–2 weeks

    Discovery

We work out where you actually are, which is rarely where the brief says. Stakeholder interviews, a read through the existing codebase, and an honest look at the analytics and the incident history.

    You receive

Findings report and a scope we both believe

  2. 2–3 weeks

    Design & Architecture

The whole system on one page before any of it gets built: user flows, the states that matter, service boundaries, and the risks we can name up front. This is the cheapest point to change your mind.

    You receive

Designs, technical architecture and a risk register

  3. 8–16 weeks typical

    Build

Two-week sprints, each ending in something you can click on a staging environment. No status decks — you see the real thing running against real data, or the sprint did not finish.

    You receive

    Working software every two weeks

  4. 1–2 weeks

    Launch

Staged rollout behind feature flags, load testing before you need it, and monitoring configured before go-live rather than after the first incident.

    You receive

    Production launch, dashboards and alerting

  5. Ongoing

    Support & Handover

Documentation written for the engineer who inherits this, training sessions with your team, and an SLA if you want one. If your team cannot maintain it after we leave, we did not finish the job.

    You receive

    Documentation, training and optional SLA

Tell us what you need built

Whether it is a new product, a system that has outgrown its first build, or a migration nobody wants to start — send us the shape of the problem and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people for it.
